teach law. i wrote the brief against obama with the fact in mind that i have a lot of liberal friends on the cali. my colleagues and the faculty. law professors are quite compulsive but the level of the scholarship. when you read something that you want to have available to your colleagues it has to be overwhelmingly document to and fed noted. and a brief against obama there are 45 pages of footnotes and 235 pages of text. and so when i tell you anything and make a statement about the president tonight and about his record to find in a brief against a llama. and as documentation that takes you executory confine the fact that i cite, the quotations that i put forward in the arguments that i make because i have in mind that when the law school to you reconvenes. i'll leave a copy of the button each of my liberal colleagues mailbox. were actually a wonderful faculty. we stand back-to-back. there are about 50 of the other ones. that's about hair. and we have to abide by just wanted to make sure that it would stand up to the most rigorous analysis. the second part of it is, a lawyer. sandy

at this time is the more or less maintenance of the status quo in which barack obama will continue to occupy the oval office as the republicans continue to patrol by reversed number of the house of representatives with the senate at this time being up for grabs. so we should be open for the possibility that the current election will fit the shakespearean description of sound and fury signifying nothing or very little with regard to domestic policy and that is what i am focusing on. perhaps not nothing. considered the conclusion of tom friedman's column on april 22nd of this past year in which he expressed great concern that i certainly share about the health of our political system. he began by asking what some leaders found no doubt inflammatory, quote, does america need and arabs spring. his answer is basically yes, quote, we can't be great as long as we remain a of the talks with the rather than a democracy. our deformed political system with a congress that has become a form for legalized bribery is truly holding us back. ave talk receipt allows what some would regard special i

administration. obama's people point all the time look at the unprecedented defense cooperation and missile defense and other things, and it is unprecedented. well, it's precedented because the bush administration beforehand had begun that ratcheting up of cooperation between with the israel defense forces after 9/11. that cooperation is a two-way street. the israelis have designed equipment that has saved the lives of americans in afghanistan. and, indeed, self sealing bandages, it's one of the reasons it saves lives of people who have been hit, improved wound healing. so it's a two-way thing. they're constantly talking, swapping tactics, things about drones. so a lot of good things there. but what the right hand giveth with defense, the left-handed diplomatic takes away with pressure to free settlement, something the palestinians have never asked for, israel was told it should negotiate from, what were called by the administration 1967 borders, which were the 1939 cease-fire lines, which are not borders. and the palestinians immediately adopted that. so then there was a series of breach i

political reasons. i don't think -- sorry, the obama administration or the european administrations are more happy with the democracy than they were with dictators as, you know, i think it's a question of interest. what are the interests now? over the last ten years, the chinese economy present in the middle east was multiplied by seven. it's a very powerful presence, and the greek countries brazil, india, china, russia, south africa, turkey, indonesia, are playing a very important role in the region, and we don't talk about this, but it's -- there is a shift here, and for many reasons, it has -- it's going to have an impact. on the countries on the relationship between israel and other arab countries because remember china has not the same relationship to israel than the united states of america. this is a very big concern. what is going to happen in the region? we have to take these seriously. it's not just political, but economic and this is a second point which is the answer. the economic vision coming from the arab world, when i was talking to the current president in tunisia, i wa

techniques used by the president could influence congress. if president obama called you to the white house and sat with you and asked you, given my -- i'll make believe president obama, given my different personality from president johnson's, what do you think i would have to do in order to affect congress with some of the same powers that president johnson did. >> guest: well, that's a good question. let me say, first, that i wouldn't really answer it because what i learned in doing these books is you don't really know what's happens behind the scenes unless you do the research on it, and i have not done the research on this. the second thing, you know, i would like to say i think president obama has some achievements with congress that he's not giving enough credit for. i think when history looks back, says that 30-plus million people ran into the health insurance rolls through his health insurance bill, that's going to be quite a change, quite a, you know, martin luther king said the moral law of the universe bends slowly, but it bends towards justice. eng there was a bending towa

: only barack obama -- it is an extraordinary openness actually. >> we talked about it a lot. i liked it when i was a kid. we didn't talk about it a lot. we talk a lot about this person or that person and we all pretend we are tolerant. i liked it when people didn't care. i was catholic. you talk about the minority. minority was a minority. i was the black catholic in savannah, georgia. that is -- and insular -- insular minority. so -- nobody bothered. i was the only black kid in my seminary. 1965 the 64 there was a younger -- young man who left. i was there by myself in savannah. nobody bothered me. i hear people say these things about they are tolerant. there really identifying a lot more. i like the idea that when you start you and i are here. neither one of us -- nobody seems to care. no one is pointing it out. we notice it. you look like you are in the and its descent. people say horrible fans. i am not black. just a little doubtful i should say i am black. here we are. no one really is bringing this point up. would you should be more concerned about is look where we are. it seem
